Fashion Challenge

Okay babes, start your shopping engines: I've got a fashion challenge for you! My dear friend Courtney is getting married (yay!) to Kain in a small ceremony at the Albany Country Club in a few weeks. It's a Friday at 2pm affair. I've got a dress and a little jacket combo from the Gap that I just love. But I'm stumped on the shoes and jewelry!

That's where you come in. Please help me find the perfect compliments to this outfit. I'd like you to find me a great pair of strappy sandals, mid-height heel, comfort is key. :) And I'd like you to decide for me what jewelry I should wear from my line (can't pass up an opportunity to share my work with strangers, right?)

The best part? If I pick your combo, you'll win a Set Adrift Necklace from Clementine. Sound good? Yay! So just leave a comment with the links to 1) your shoe pick and 2) your Clementine jewelry pick and your email address (you can enter it like this: name [at] address [dot] com to avoid spammy spam). Contest is open until this Friday, June 5th at midnight EST, and I'll announce the winner on Monday!

HI :)

I would go for a big statement necklace, like this:

and these shoes....

Hope you find what you're looking for!

Marichelle said...

ok, here are two options http://twitpic.com/6gvcl:

I think both will work even without the jacket in case you decide to take it off and boogie :)

1. In brown multi http://bit.ly/ey87S accessory: would love to see the black diamond bit, echoing the subtle blk in shoes. I'd pbly go necklace-less

2. a little more bling http://bit.ly/10j7fH but a nice option that makes the outfit even more dressier (i think?). I like how the stones echo the shape of the buttons on your jacket and then I'd go for the mimosa http://bit.ly/bREQw necklace following the rounds theme OR the balance necklace http://bit.ly/motKj if you think it's too much, that would be a nice contrast to all the circles and give it a little bit of edge?

Shoes: These look comfy and sweet! (Also available in bronze) http://www.anntaylorloft.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=19340&N=1200266&categoryId=232&Ns=CATEGORY_SEQ_232&loc=LN&defaultColorNameFromCategory=Bronze&defaultSizeTypeFromCategory=Misses

Jewelry: Nashville Earrings - http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=15621794
I chose earrings because the jacket has lots of great detail on its own. And if you take it off, the dress has such a pretty neckline!

Here it all is together:

(Inspired by Marichelle's super neat presentation, I made a photo collage as well :)

1) Shoe pick: Lela Rose for Payless Tilden T-Strap Wedge
I've worked with Lela Rose on a few shows and was also in charge of shoes. I love them! Her shoes are simply adorable.

2) Clementine jewelry pick:
a. earring: Champagne at Midnight

b. necklace: Keepsake

Both, if you're wearing your hair down. The hair will "hide" the earrings a bit therefore, wearing the necklace (and the earrings) won't make your neck/chest area too busy when you have the jacket on. The gold will show discretely and beautifully.
One or the other, if your hair is up.

I love afternoon weddings :)
For jewelry I would combine the Intertwined Necklace (perfect for a wedding with the two circles coming together):

with the Summer's Bloom earrings:

and for shoes I love these Joann Dress Sandals in Bronze:

Have fun at the wedding :)

Oh, this is fun. I'm having a hard time deciding. This is probably why I have so many pairs of shoes and jewelry around. :)
Option 1: These kicks would be great for dancing: http://piperlime.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=35979&vid=1&pid=639456&scid=639456002
I'd pair them with your lovely archeologist earrings:http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=vl_other_1&listing_id=25566844

Option 2: Kind of a prairie look (though not your prairie necklace):
Falling slowly necklace (LOVE!) http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=25570397
some simple gold stud earrings and these seychelles slingbacks in taupe: http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?itemdescription=true&itemCount=60&startValue=1&selectedProductColor=&sortby=&id=15654403&parentid=W_SHOES_SANDALS&sortProperties=+product.marketingPriority,-product.startDate&navCount=18&navAction=poppushpush&color=&pushId=W_SHOES_SANDALS&popId=WOMENS_SHOES&prepushId=

Trying to spread the word (even though I covet the prize!): http://theb-line.blogspot.com/2009/06/fashion-challenge-contest.html

This is such a fun way to pick out an outfit!!!

Okay, I would go with these New York Transit strappy wedges http://www.dsw.com/dsw_shoes/catalog/product.jsp?index=19&category=dsw11cat200012&prodId=183347&brand= from DSW (free shipping!). The low wedge is sensible and clumsy-proof for wedding dancing, and the muted 'jewels' tie in the purple from the dress, bring in a few extra summery colors, and dress the shoes up a bit, and they're nude to blend with the jacket!

For jewelry, I love your Honeysuckle earrings http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=18790140 to add a bright pop of color and serious 'bling' above the dress. I would not wear a necklace because you don't want to detract from the darling jacket or from its beautiful neckline if you ditch the jacket, but you do want to add another punch of color and to show off the cute short sleeves, so I would add this Midnight at the Oasis ring http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=18790140 because it's a real statement piece. Both jewery pieces echo the jewels and jewel tones in the shoes without detracting from the outfit.

Good luck picking something out!!!

what a fun challenge. btw, i LOVE the prize. what a beautiful necklace!

my thoughts.
1. shoes: (ah. how i love shose)... i'd say darker option - http://www.zappos.com/product/7501538/color/18218
and lighter option - http://www.zappos.com/product/7554926/color/38788

2. jewelry: if you want to be soft and sweet - Sparrows at the Dawning Earrings. they will bring a subtle feminine touch to the more rugged feel of the dress and jacket. if you want the RAWR feel - Nashville Earrings are the way to go. they've definitely got attitude (in the good sense). :) if you didn't want to wear earrings and instead felt more like a necklace that day, i'd say the Eclipse Necklace doesn't match but totally GOES. :)

btw.. i love your jewelry! definitely becoming a shop i HEART. :)

I am so crap at this sort of thing but wanted to tell you that you'll look ravishing no matter what you wear. My only advice is to not let your right boob pop out like mine did at a bar mitzvah.

Thank you for your sweet words on my blahg. I survived the interview. xoxoxox

So here's what I've come up with for jewlery and shoes.

for the shoes I found them at DSW in brown http://www.dsw.com/dsw_shoes/catalog/product.jsp?index=152&category=dsw11cat200012&prodId=185464&brand=

and for the jewlery how about the Ava Earrings and the keepsake necklace?

How you find a good match for your outfit (which by the way is totally adorable)

Pull your super cute outfit with:

*nothing beats a wedge at a wedding, because you never know if you'll have to walk in the grass and it's comfy for long periods of standing.

Jewelry: (earrings) http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=25576288

*to pick up the purple in your dress

*silver cuff

I didn't pick a necklace because I've tried on that jacket from the Gap and it doesn't open up at the neck to really show off a fun necklace. So I went without one. :) Have fun at your wedding!

To dress it up, I chose the following:

Clementine Jewelery

Starlight Necklace

with the

Golden Opulence Earrings

For the shoes

Caparros Xotic Strappy Slide in gold

I own several pairs of Caparros and find them to be super comfortable!

Good luck choosing and enjoy the wedding. =)

I'd go with the Bandolino Eira from Piperlime. This shoe is very pretty. I like the lines of the straps. I think the gold is perfect for a special occasion and your outfit (love the jacket - it's different and special). Here's the link... http://piperlime.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=35979&vid=1&pid=593405&scid=593405002

As far as jewelry goes, with your jacket, I'd skip a necklace and go with statement earrings. I love your Ava Floral earrings at your etsy shop. Shimmer is good! I want them. They're on my wish list:)

Have a great time. I just love weddings!

Clover and Violet said...

Wow, the dress and jacket are lovely! First, shoes. I'd pick these lovely Bronze Sandlas by Callisto: http://tinyurl.com/q8aokk Although they're not exactly strappy, I think they look chic, have a good heel, and are versitile enough that they would dress up nice but you could also wear them with jeans all the way through the fall. For jewelry, I'm keeping the bronze theme. Since you're wearing a jacket with a lot of detail at the neck and short sleeves, I'd opt for a bracelet over a necklace, and choose your Sweet Mystery Bracelet and pair it with the Bindi Earrings. I'm sure you'll look stunning regardless of what you wear!

shoes~ Indigo by Clarks, Tequesta in champagne leather: http://www.zappos.com/product/7506640/color/2063

jewelry~ your Stargazer necklace with the Champagne at Midnight earrings. also the Sweet Mystery bracelet, because short-sleeved jackets need a bracelet.

have a blast at the wedding!

Mmmm. I want to say, the black mimosa necklace

with these lovely radiant daisy earrings,

That way, you have a touch of floral, a bit of mystery, and the soft feminine outfit, all together!

Thanks! What a fun idea!

and I think you should take a matching stone from the earrings and make a simple wire-wrapped drop necklace.

As for shoes....http://www.zappos.com/product/7526633/color/2329

and for jewelry, I think these of yours would look fab, http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=22558426 and http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=17517623 color with color is fantastic and it will make your jewelry pieces pop out when with the purple dress.
