At home in the woods

aaahhh, this image pulls at my 10-year-old self. Does it you, too? The impulse to build forts, to explore, to set out into a brave new world--and have a bed there, too. Very Swiss Family Robinson, adventure and homemaking rolled into one. Just add a little mosquito netting (and perhaps a bathroom) and I'd live there all summer long. Image via ffffound!

the dadster

I was trying to power through today when I saw a post by K. on the rikrak studio blog--it's her late father's birthday today as well. What a coincidence. So I thought I'd share a sweet photo and put a birthday wish out into the world for my dad, who would have been 65 today.

that's a good friend

Sometimes a friend you've known forever comes back home for the weekend. And you make her come over and put on every necklace you've made in the last two weeks so you can take some pictures, because you're sick of seeing your own stupid face all over your shop listings.

And your friend gamely puts them all on (this isn't even 1/3 of them here) and tries not to move her mouth too much while she talks. And then she tries to pretend the dog isn't licking her hand.

Thanks, Nell.

Monologue

I'm loving the hushed quality, the brilliant use of color, and the playfulness of Romanian photographer Camil Tulcan's work. Check out his gorgeous flickr photostream here.

GOALS

Sometimes you just need to be held accountable. Positive peer pressure. It's why group exercise classes work for me. My face might turn bright red and sweat might pour in rivulets down my face, but I'm going to pound out that jab-jab-uppercut-roudhouse kick sequence until it kills me. Perhaps literally.

That's why I'm psyched about Jena's new Monthly Goal Meetup over at Modish BIZtips. It's simple: share your goals for the month. Then check back in and see how you've done.

So here are my goals for April (those of you who might still have a modicum of respect for me and my business, please don't read the first two. thank you):

1) create a spreadsheet for tracking profits and expenses
2) create a spreadsheet for order packaging/fulfillment
3) create new Etsy avatar and banner
4) work with designer (hi Nicole!) on new logo and business cards
