If I Were a Shoe....

From the annals of Odd: a pair of shoes that share my name.

There's also a female bodybuilder that shares my name. She's not as cute as these shoes.

Those are SO cute. And the heel doesn't look painfully high!

I've never even thought about my 'shoe persona'. I hope mine would be as super cute as yours. For years I really liked ugly shoes like my beloved Doc Marten mary-janes. I think I should look for some new shoes. :)

Those shoes are hot. Just like yourself. I think I might be a kitten heeled shoe but I'm not sure.

if I were a shoe... I'd be a high heel of some sort. black. leather, very high heel. something strappy with possibly a platform heel.

That sounds about right. :)

BTW... I found you today via Another Shade of Grey and just ordered the bracelet she featured on her blog. I'll be featuring you today as well ;)

You don't want to be a shoe.

Trust me -- I'm a shoe. You women all say you love us, but that's when we're all flashy and new. Then, you just put your feet in us, and walk all over.

But that's all right -- it's what we're made for. I don't mind the scuffs and the bumps we endure as long as we're being treasured like the fine specimens we are and flaunted for all your friends to see. The pleasant strolls across the parks and the city views and all the nice sights too all make us footwear feel happy and appreciated.

We cherish every moment, the good and the bad. The ups and the downs. The rain and the sun, the grass and the concrete.

But then, nothing lasts forever. There comes a time, that every shoe dreads -- when we realise that the clock is ticking down. Maybe your friends comment that we look a bit worn out, beat-up or they hint that you ought to go shoe-shopping with them. You no longer bother to pamper us with polish or clean us. And then there's the dreaded words no shoe wants to hear... "It's time for these to go, let's get new ones". Then it's the end.

No one ever bothers to remember a shoe after its demise. We are just another item once used and loved but ultimately temporary and ephemeral. Nothing survives of us after we are squashed and crushed with all of life's useless objects in the dump..

...Except the memories you had while walking in us, and maybe a photograph of us in which you are wearing us which you will smile at years in the future and make comments about your fashion sense then.

So then, cherish being a person, not a shoe. You're a human being who will wear out many of us in your journey through life. We are only one of many objects in your life, to enter and leave in the blink of an eye. And we know this and live our lives to the fullest. I hope you do too with yours.

Cheers,
A shoe
