Winter's Design

When you strip away all the color and the lushness, what's left is purely light and dark: exquisite texture, endless pattern. Browsing through some old photos, I found these from an ice storm several years ago. I find the crystaline structures here to be endlessly inspiring, don't you? I'd say there's more than a little correlation between these photos and my current work. The play of light on a landscape encased in ice - is there anything more stunning?

amazing photos! especially love the ice crystals scattered (seemingly)on the ground & the shot looking up at the icy trees. Always intrigued & happy when we find ourselves inspired by nature.

Best to you in 2011

Rebecca - :) Happy New Year to you, too!!
Micha- such a lovely way to put it, a coating of glass. thanks!
Melis - you guys are welcome here anytime, seriously. Get up here! ;)
Jennifer - I bet there's all sorts of cool, winter patterns happening down your way right now.
Allisa - thank you! I think the crystals are called "hoar ice" - it's something about the dew point and...well, I don't really know. but I think that's what it's called!
