Blog it Forward: Inspiration

A story about what inspires me, told through the lens of one of my biggest inspirations:
taking photographs.

Collections: stones (my very first collection as a kid was of crystals and rocks) & books.

Pure, unadulterated color
(you should see my paint chip collection. it's legendary. they're free, what can I say?)

Freshly fallen snow

Marking up gardening books and dreaming of spring (my fave garden book publisher? Storey)

a greenhouse in the dead of winter (Smith College Botanical Gardens)

That sweet spot where texture and color combine

a big old mess of flowers that self-seed and grow willy-nilly

An old barn: time-world, well-used, beautiful—and so perfectly rural

A trail through the woods and a dog named Zeke

And the biggest inspiration of all, which has no photograph: YOU. The blogger/crafter/maker community. Endlessly inspirational, all of you. Every day I find something new to love in your words, your images, your creations.

A huge thank-you to Victoria of sfgirlbybay for putting this whole, 300-strong blogger procession together. Perhaps you came via the lovely Bree of Citrus Hearts? Tomorrow you can visit the Clementine Press blog for another dose of sweet inspiration. Thank you so much for being here, with me, today.

{ others blogging it forward today are The Audzipan Anthology, Oh So Beautiful Paper, Reading My Tea Leaves, Enhabiten, Sonya Mac Designs, Jennifer Wilson Photo, The Fairly Constant Reader, Make Something, and Where Women Create. }

Now I feel uncool. I had no idea what blogging it fwd was, and am totally pouting to not be involved. haha.

on to more important things....
Ohhhhh. This is nice. I love seeing where you get your inspiration. The close up of those cedar branches (I think they are cedar) is lovely, and your stone collection is probably the coolest thing I've ever seen.

Seeing this makes me put aside my recent machinations which were going to be aimed at getting you to move to New York City. sigh.

Simply breathtaking. Your photos are like little jewels, telling the story of you. Perfect in every way.

You and I share many of the same inspirations. I'm not very surprised to find this true. :)

Thank you for sharing, I'm so glad you did. Now I love you even more ....xo

I love the idea of a paint chip collection, it's quirky and funny.
Love the painted glass on the roof of the greenhouse picture. It looks great and effectively keeps the focus of the image on the greenery instead of the what I imagine to have been glass highlights.

All of the photos are just beautiful! I've been trying to get a wildflower meadow going in my backyard for four summers now. I haven't had any luck! I guess Mother Nature puts them where she wants them! Thanks for sharing your inspirations!
