Scenes from Midwinter

This is the time of year we all begin to wonder "is spring ever going to make it this year?"
We've had snowcover since early Dec. We'll likely have it for at least another month, if not more. The trees will leaf out in the first week of May, if all goes well.

Some days are gorgeous, and I can get outside and enjoy the beauty of this place. Other days I feel crappy or its sleeting/freezing rain/just plain ugly and I curse the winter. For the last week I've been fighting some kind of bug so its mostly the latter.

But when the sun comes out and lights the frosted treeline, there's really nothing prettier. Except maybe a rose blooming in June. :)

Oh, it really is beautiful, but I know what you mean about wanting spring to get here. With us down south, in Charlotte anyway, there hasn't really been enough cold weather to tamp back the mosquitoes. I've seen them all throughout the winter. So I know that they will be bad come spring and the really warm weather. Do you have mosquitoes bad up there?

No way, you still have mosquitos? Crazy! We get them here, but only for a short time, like June - Sept. Once we get a hard freeze, they're gone. I guess that's one plus of constant sub-freezing temps! :)

Really a lovely blog. I fear mine has gone by the wayside with my new job. The snowy pictures are wonderful. Your jewelry is lovely also.
